Ebb and Flow

Ebenezer and Florence were childhood sweethearts; right from kindergarten. Everyone thought they would grow up, date, marry and settle down.
Which is just what they did.
But here they were three years on and they were bogged down. Heavy with debt and jobless. They had to do something to stop the descent into the mire of hopelessness, wash away the unhappiness and start to live again. The flow of life was ebbing away.
Now they were homeless, sitting on the curb. Ebenezer picked up his guitar -the only possession he had managed to salvage – and started strumming; without thinking Florence began humming along, and before you knew it she was singing – singing louder and louder, and then joyously at the top of her voice.
Clink! then another. Clink! Coins started raining down into the hat Ebenezer had discarded. They played and sang, sang and played until they were tuckered out. But not exhausted, not depressed. They were happy, happy, happy. Money wasn’t everything after all.
And soon after that a sign appeared in the local theater:
