Response to Daily Post prompt: Victory

Peter S was going to play his guitar at a folk club. Knowing how much I like folk songs he invited me to come hear him.

We’ll be playing in a pub, he said, and then he told me its name.

I had to drive quite a way out into the country; it was in a village I wasn’t familiar with.

When I got there I parked and started walking up and down the main street. Pubs are always somewhere along there. But I couldn’t find the Victory pub anywhere.

After a frustrating twenty minutes or so – I was missing the music – I finally asked a local: Please can you tell me where the Victory pub is?

He looked at me strangely and pointed across the street. I turned around and saw the pub sign – it said:  The Fig Tree.
