In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Your Days are Numbered.”
I’m going to just use some of the date, and leave in a slash (or as we say in the UK, an oblique). Hope that’s not a problem.
My birthday is the day the Twin Towers were demolished by terrorist actions, but when friends sympathized, I could always say “I’m British, so it is actually 11/9 over there, which doesn’t mean anything.”
But today, it is11/9 and I think of it the American way, which is sort of poignant.
Time doesn’t erase memories, but we all move them around to soften sorrow.
